Ancient Egypt is often associated with pharaohs, queens and magnificent monuments, but everyday life in this amazing civilisation was far more complex and interesting than is often thought.
We invite you to a lecture that will delve into the lives of ordinary women in Ancient Egypt, exploring their rights, opportunities and importance in both family and social life.
Drawing on archaeological finds and primary written sources such as the Love Poetry and the Wisdom Texts, we will take a closer look at women’s daily lives and their social
roles. It will be an extraordinary journey to ancient Egypt, where we will discover behind the scenes of women’s daily lives, as well as the extraordinary historical figures who have left an important imprint on the history of this civilisation.

The lecture will be given by Sandra Veprauskienė – an Egyptian archaeologist, professional member of the International Association of Egyptologists, founder of the first Ancient Egyptian studio “Dendera” in Lithuania. She graduated in Egyptology from the University of Liverpool (UK) in 2012, and later furthered her knowledge at the University of Leiden (The Netherlands). Interested in the worldview, behaviour and material culture of the ancient Egyptians since she was a teenager, Sandra Veprauskienė has been involved in international archaeological research in Egypt, analysing primary written and iconographic sources, and studying the details of everyday life, which allow a better understanding of the people of this ancient civilisation.

The lecture will take place on 26 March 2025 at 17:30. The lecture is free. Pre-registration is required by phone +370 650 41018 or email info@lsim.lt
